Leslie Cassar, Chairman
After a long and successful career with Qantas including regional GM for Continental Europe and Middle East, Les joined Concorde International Travel as a partner-owner and Group MD. He then founded World Aviation Systems, successfully representing online & offline airlines in Australia, New Zealand, North America, Asia and Europe. Leslie has dedicated more than 35 years to enhancing strong relations between Australia, Italy and Malta, and in 1997 he was decorated by the Australian Government with The Order of Australia (AM) in recognition of his services to the Australian Aviation & Travel Industry and contribution to Australia-Malta relations. Leslie also serves as a Board Director of Destination NSW, the state tourism & events body.
Anthony Cassar, Managing Director & Legal Counsel
Anthony has a Bachelor of Applied Science, and a background in Commercial Law specialising in Tourism & Aviation, and Mergers & Acquisitions. Previously he was also Commercial Projects Manager for The Concorde Group and World Aviation Systems. Anthony is Managing Director of Breakaway Travelclub specialising in holiday packages for the Travel Industry. He has also advised on Aviation Law and bi-laterals for a number of International Carriers, and is a member of the NSW Law Society.
Colin Hughes, Director International Operations
Col has been in the Airline Industry for over 40 years. He began his career in Qantas serving in Japan, USA, Europe and South East Asia, before moving to Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong as GM marketing services Worldwide, then GM Middle East in Bahrain. After 11 years at Cathay he moved to Continental Airlines as GM Pacific, then returned to Hong Kong as VP Asia Pacific at Northwest Airlines. In 1995 Col returned to Qantas as senior VP international for 8 years. In 2003, together with Anthony Cassar, founded GSA company Global Aviation Services which later merged with World Aviation Systems to form the largest GSA company in Asia Pacific with 41 client carriers (9 online).
Tony Wilson, General Manager
Tony has almost 20 years experience in the travel industry. He started out with Lunn Poly, the UK’s leading travel agency chain, before moving to Sydney and working with Sydney International Travel Centre as an on-line specialist. In 2002 he joined the Cassar Aviation group and progressed through various management roles at Breakaway Travelclub before starting with AOL in 2002. He has a Bachelor of Organisational Leadership, a Postgraduate Certificate in Project Management and an Advanced Diploma in Tourism. Proficient in all aspects of reservations, ticketing and BSP/IATA regulations, Tony is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our call centre and sales teams in Australia and New Zealand. He has managed all commercial aspects for our company across all brands and departments. His responsibilities include pricing & product distribution, prorate & codeshare negotiations, market intelligence, fare analysis & implementation, and building & maintaining key industry relationships.
Yurike Russo, Product Development Manager
Yurike joined the Aviation Online 5 years ago and is now responsible for the growth and multi-channel distribution of all carrier product to both trade and consumer. Through her dedication and attention to detail she has maintained all key industry contacts as well overseeing the management of the membership database, critical to the continued success of the Company. Yurike’s knowledge of product and support in daily operations ensures our customers’ needs are met and expectations exceeded.
Francis Lou, General Manager – China, Hong kong and Taiwan
Francis joined Aviation Online in 2007 as General Manager China, Hong Kong and Taiwan where he established our representation business with the GSA for Virgin Blue and Air Malta in those territories. After completing his Automobile Engineering Degree, Francis worked for Qantas for over 30 years in China. 20 Years as Airport Manager HK and 10 years as General Manager China, heading up, distributions, marketing, airport and all matters in China.
Now leading our China team, Francis’s intimate knowledge of the local market and vast experience in the China aviation industry ensure an extremely efficient and cost effective Airline and Tourism representation solution for our clients in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Matthew Wong, Finance and Administration
Matthew brings over 30 years of senior travel accounting expertise to the management team including previously CFO – World Aviation Group (Australia) head office Sydney, and 10 years at Cathay Pacific head office, Hong Kong. Matthew is proficient in all finance, payroll, taxation and HR related tasks.
Michael Neumann, Manager Southern Region
As Manager Southern Region, Michael brings to the organisation more than 30 years of business experience from several fields. Michael was instrumental in setting up the original Melbourne operation for World Aviation (then GSA for Air Malta, Brussels Airlines, and SriLankan Airlines) including the implementation of their first automated reservation system.
Mariella Neumann, Sales Manager Southern Region
As sales manager southern states, Mariella draws upon more than 30 years of sales experience in the travel industry. Having spent her initial years and completed her training with Qantas Airways in Melbourne, Mariella continued her career in all facets of airline and travel work.
Ray Kumar, Business Development Consultant
Ray is a graduate from Australian National University and has an extensive experience in aviation and travel industry. His background includes general management of airlines with experience and qualifications in sales, accounting, administration and migration law.
Ray’s career started as an accountant with KPMG and later joined American Express Travel. In 1992 he started with airline ticket consolidator, Metro Travel and in 1997 was appointed product manager for Vacationland in Sydney.
Previously Ray was employed by Aviation Services Australasia as a state manager NSW (2000-2009), an airline representation company having worked with Polynesian Airlines, Air Calin and Air Mauritius.
Jerome Sattrukalsinghe, Chief Financial Officer
Jerome comes from a very strong Airline background with more than 30 years of experience in the Airline and Travel Industry. He has held senior management roles with Helloworld’s Airline division where he was the CFO for World Aviation Systems and Global Aviation Services for the Australian and New Zealand operations. He was responsible for the finance and administration for over 40 Passenger and Cargo Airlines. Jerome brings combination of team leadership, planning & managing performance, financial skills and is proficient in enhancing management reporting.
Liz Burrage, Business Development Manager
Liz has over 25 years experience in the travel industry. Her background is in corporate travel as a consultant and for the last 12 years running her own online travel agency, specialising in high end business and first class travel and exceptional customer service. She has a bachelor of Science and an MBA with a major in International Business. In her role as a Business Development manager for Aviation Online her main focus is to maintain industry relationships, explore the market and new business opportunities and grow and build the business.
Venise Ta’avili, Reservations Manager
Venise is a proud Samoan and has been working in the travel industry for over 9 years after completing her Travel and Tourism Diploma. Having previously been employed by Air Mauritius as a Reservations Consultant, she joined the Aviation Online team 7 years ago and is now the Reservation Manager for Alitalia, Air Malta, Air Serbia, Brussels Airlines, Bhutan Airlines and Samoa Airways. Venise supports our daily operation and her knowledge on airline product, ticketing, refunds and groups ensures our customer’s needs are met and expectations exceeded.
